We break performance into 3 key parts: Market Share, Succes Rate, and Customer Satisfaction.
Market Share
Tip: When you’re deciding which auction house to sell with, a larger market share can mean a safer bet.
Don't rule out smaller auction houses though. Your experience with a company ultimately comes down to the person you deal with there, rather than the size of the company. Read more here.
Success Rate
Tip: A higher success rate usually means an auction house is more realistic with their valuations, are less likely to take on customers with unrealistic expectations, and may be more efficient at generating interest and bids from buyers.
Reviews
Tip: Review scores are important to consider, but it’s important know what customers are actually saying as well. We outline the overall themes of their reviews further down this page.

Good things people say (Pros)
What can be improved (Cons)
What types of auction do they run?
Symonds & Sampson run traditional property auctions.
With traditional auctions, a non-refundable 10% deposit is paid, and contracts are exchanged immediately. The buyer must then complete within the agreed completion period, which tends to be 28 calendar days.
What happens on auction day?
Symonds & Sampson’s auctions are now back in the room, and so you will either be able to attend the event in person or can watch the event unfold online.
Potential buyers can bid online or in person, by telephone or by proxy.
If the property reaches the agreed reserve price, then the lot will be sold with an immediate exchange of contracts. The buyer will have to pay a 10% deposit immediately and must complete within the agreed completion period (which is usually 28 days).
What happens if your property doesn't sell at auction?
If the property fails to sell at auction, Symonds & Sampson will try and tie up a post-auction sale for you.
You can also enter the lot into the next available auction at no additional cost.

Symonds & Sampson will advertise your property in their online and printed full colour catalogue, as well as six dedicated property websites and auction portals.
Symonds & Sampson will also advertise in regional newspapers and national papers, where appropriate.
The advertising process is carried out over a period of 5-6 weeks prior to the auction date to ensure your lot is visible and available to all potential buyers.
How do they get property photos?
Property photographs will be taken at the property, alongside the EPC and floor plan for an additional cost of £120 plus VAT.
Will your listings include a floor plan and video walkthrough?
Video tours are not included as standard, but can be arranged. A floor plan will be included in the listing, alongside the photographs and EPC, for the additional cost of £120 plus VAT.
Symonds & Sampson will organise viewing days on your behalf and carry out the viewings.

A member of the auction team will meet you at the property to carry out the valuation.
They will then work with you to come up with a reserve price that you are happy with, and you can then decide whether you’d like to move forward.
