Hi there!

Based on your responses, it looks like an Estate Agent is going to be the right option for you.

The two most important things I picked out from your responses are:

Getting the best selling price is your priority.
(You said that getting the best price possible is more important to you than getting a fast sale)
You have plenty of time to sell. You don’t need a "quick sale" option!
(You said you’d be prepared to wait 5 months or longer for your sale, if necessary)

Selling through an estate agent is the best way to get the highest price for your property, and you have time to see the process through.

Unfortunately, selling through an estate agent isn’t easy though:

  • Time. According to Zoopla, the average sale takes 25 weeks. (And that’s the average… meaning half of sales take even longer.)
  • Stress. It’s not just about it taking a long time though... The process of selling a house is also stressful. In fact, it’s often ranked as one of the most stressful life events we go through.

Not great!

Because the estate agent route can be so tricky, there are alternative ways to sell your home… let me give you a quick overview of these.

The alternatives

If you didn’t want to sell through an estate agent, you can sell directly to a house-buying company, or sell via auction. You get a much faster, more convenient sale through these methods, but there’s a big catch…

You’ll lose a lot of money.

For example:

  • House-buying companies will buy your home for about 20% less than its full value.
  • If you sell via auction, on average you’ll lose 10-15% of your home's value.

In either case, this means losing tens of thousands of pounds.

Because getting the best price is more important to you than getting a quick sale, these options don’t seem like they’ll make sense.

(You said you’ve got plenty of time to work with as well – so you don’t necessarily need the benefit of a fast sale either).

So the only method that seems to makes sense is selling through an estate agent.

Next Steps...

Here are a couple of options I’d suggest considering:

  • Option A. Free advice on selling fast with an estate agent.
If you’re happy with your quiz responses and you agree with these results, check out this article: How to sell your house fast for the best price.

I distilled years of home-selling experience into this article. (This 15-minute read could save you months of delays, stress and uncertainty!)
  • Option B. Re-take the quiz.
If you aren’t happy with your quiz responses and if a quick sale is more important to you, try re-taking the quiz. Different responses will take you to different results pages.

But remember... any ‘fast sale” option will always come with a big compromise on the price you get. So if you really do want the highest price possible, then check out the “sell fast for the best price” article and head for a good local estate agent.

Either way, I really hope this short quiz saved you a lot of time, and I’m really wishing you the best of luck with your home sale!

Matt.
